i was reading Asterios Polyp for the first time in my favorite cafe back home when, recognizing the cover art, a stranger struck up conversation.  he had just moved to indiana from texas, where he had worked in a comic book shop.  when i asked him for recommendations, he said his favorite titles were by Jason.  a few rentals from the public library later that afternoon solidified my returning interest.
